Also known as Joan of Arc, or Jeanne d'Arc. Commissioned by *aethernavale in commemoration of the saint for her Feast Day (May 30th).
This was actually finished BEFORE fanime, but I did not have a chance to upload it till now. Oops! I'm pretty happy with it considering the immense challenge it was for me. We did not want to romanticize her or over embellish her. A lot of drawings of Joan of Arc go overboard like.. long blond hair with super pretty skin and perfect sterling armor, large breasts even, etc. etc. I tried to get this as realistic on those terms as possible, which involved a good deal of research and some educated guesses on our parts.
I can say i now know.. a LOT more about armor than I did before this drawing, haha. Also developed more methods to draw grass and rocks! Yet I also learned that I don't know a lot more things i didn't even know existed! This was a great learning experience and I hope people enjoy the result of it. My personal favorite is the armor on the ground hehe.
We might see this at Otakon as an original print.. haha
I remember growing up with the story of Joan of Arc. I love how you've depicted her here. Indeed, a girl from medieval France most likely wouldn't look like a Hollywood starlet on her way to opening night. The environment's details also really stand out. This is a keeper.
Woah dude, this might be my fave picture of yours! Love all the detail that's gone into it, and the overall down-to-earth feel (no unnecessary animu sparkle or anything, haha) just... man. Love the focus of this piece. Prime work. A+
The shading, textures and brushstrokes are fantastic.
Is refreshing to see a well drawn Jeanne d'Arc.
The fanservice-y pics of her are so annoying, is very insulting to see a Saint depicted that way (well, I don't like fanservice in other people either).
