This has always been my semi-joking head canon. That link eats the hearts of his enemies to get health back. It sort of makes sense, cause enemies only drop hearts sometimes right? Maybe cause other times you chop them up so much you can't eat the heart anymore! So when you do miss the heart.. NOM NOM NOM
